“Creating is living and the expression of words is what I live for.”
About
I am not too fond of sharing much of an autobiography here, as I would rather tell my story via my music or poetry. I will say that I was born in the Great Lakes State of Michigan and raised in Kalamazoo for 18 years. I left home and college in my 18th year to move to delicious Los Angeles. After that year, I moved back to Michigan and eventually to Florida where I established my writing career at Eckerd College. I attained a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing with a focus on poetry in 2005.
Writers that have contributed to my literary inspiration and craft, then and now: Ernest Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, John Keats, and Jane Austen, among others.
It is the places I go in my life that give my writing its true essence. The various destinations I have visited and experienced play a supporting, yet significant role in all my leading stories of love, loss, and hope. Acclaimed success is not something I can put on a pedestal, but I am grateful to continue living the life I have been granted as a writer.
Besides writing poetry, parenting, surfing, running, and everything else in between, I am currently a freelance news writer for House Digest (Static Media): https://www.housedigest.com/
Into the Distance Between Us
Into the Distance Between Us is my first published poetry book. The book developed as a nearly 30-year, cathartic process. From Michigan to California, New York City, and beyond, it is my story of friendship, love, loss, and hope. You have to read it yourself to know what I mean.
Available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and BookBaby.
